Comparing PMBOK 4, 5 and ISO 21500

Comparing PMBOK 4, 5 and ISO 21500, by Thierry Labriet.
Very good!

Article here.

  1. ISO 21500 is focusing on creating organization wide supported PM processes and understanding (one PM language).

The PMBOK Guide (indeed the 5th edition is quite similar!) provides nearly the same processes, following the same structure. But the PMBOK provides even more details in the ITTO model (inputs, outputs, tools and techniques).

What's the value for PMP's? Well .... If I'm managing an organization with loads of projects (cross-boarder, including multiple external stakeholders) I would start using this ISO standard as our 'common PM approach', thus stopping the endless discussions about what's the best standard.
Next to that I would be looking for people who demonstrated that they understand this new standard. Given the fact there is no individual certification available for ISO 21500, but understanding that it shows great similarity with the PMBOK which does have a certification available ..... Do I need to say more?
